Robust Details assessment
A Robust Detail (RD) is a separating wall or floor construction which has been assessed and approved for its acoustic performance by Robust Details Limited (RDL).
To be approved, each RD must be capable of consistently exceeding the relevant regulatory performance standards, practical to build on site and reasonably tolerant to workmanship.
The scheme has four main elements:
1. Assessment and approval of new RDs;
2. Publication in the RD Handbook;
3. Registration/certification of each dwelling in which RDs are to be built;
4. Performance management of each RD type including sample testing and inspection, statistical analysis, action to improve performance (as necessary) and feedback to industry and government.
The scheme relies on the consistent high performance of individual RD’s in the field. RDL employs specialist acoustic consultants to monitor the performance of built RDs by inspecting and testing samples of registered plots.
Our specialist technical advisors undertake assessments to ascertain if a proposed construction element is compliant to Part E of the Building Regulations and the Robust Details Handbook. To find out more…
