Forterra donates materials to couple rebuilding home after fire
Leading building products manufacturer Forterra has donated bricks and blocks to help in the rebuilding of a house destroyed by fire last year.
Dave and Olwyn Turner, from Market Deeping in Lincolnshire, lost their home to the blaze in August 2020. They escaped safely but their home and possessions were ruined. The devastation of the situation was compounded by their discovery that their insurance had terminated when they paid off their mortgage.
On learning of the couple’s plight, Forterra made a delivery of bricks and blocks, which will be used in the rebuilding of the Turners’ bungalow. The build is due to be completed by March 31st.
Dave Turner commented: “Since the fire in August and the dreadful realisation that we had let our house insurance lapse, my wife and I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of both our local community and companies like Forterra who have rallied around us and offered to help. It has been quite moving to witness.”
Stephen Harrison, Chief Executive of Forterra, said: “To have lost almost everything you own during what is an already challenging time as a result of the pandemic, must be heartbreaking. When we heard about Dave and Olwyn’s story, we felt compelled to provide assistance and help ease some of the strain they are doubtless feeling. We wish them every success with the build and a secure and happy future in their new home”
