Forterra Donation Helps Hampshire Homeless Charity
Step by Step supports young people aged 11 to 25 who are facing homelessness and other challenges across Hampshire and in to Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey and West Sussex. They provide accommodation, mental health support and life skills training to enable the young people they support to reach their aspirations and break the cycle of homelessness for good.
The donation goes towards the charity’s Opportunities Fund, which provides young people aged 16 to 25 coping with homelessness with tailored support to reach their next goal.
The fund helps finance work uniforms to aid young people in finding new jobs, paying for means of travel such as a bike or a bus pass, and emergency food vouchers. It focuses on enabling the young people to be independent, providing help and support to get them back into a productive work or educational environment.
Sarah Mween, Step by Step Community Fundraiser said, “It’s wonderful to see more young people receive the support and guidance they need. Thanks to Forterra’s donation, we can provide personalised help to the young people we support. We can be that extra stepping stone for them to move forward and buy the little extras that they actually need to help them progress in their lives and reach their aspirations.”
Caroline Wildman, Marketing Director at Forterra said: “We’re glad that this donation has helped Step by Step continue its vital work providing young people with the help and support they need.
